Bryngwyn - Trearddur Bay Reviews

Latch on the gate is broken we couldent find it on the floor if so we would have mended it. the green house glass was broken all over the ground ,we put that down too the bad winds in Anglesy has had over the last few weeks, but the green house is very old and dangerous and needs some love and care. The lights don't work on the hot tub decking .We put a brick up the gate so it was fine for the dog, I read reviews about gate being not dog safe they must have had a mouse size dog, we have a little poodle he could no way get out that gate when we put the brick up it. as for getting out the drive my husband found no trouble getting in out each day. We had a wonderful stay your house is lovely would love to stay again. My sister came to visit us over night and was also very impressed and is booking for her and her family later in the year.

Bryn Gwyn is a beautiful house, very homely, and welcoming. It is very cosy and each room is special. The kitchen is fabulous and well stocked with equipment. The house was big enough for everyone and even has a small study. We loved the hot tub. It has a big garden, is near the beach and has good access to the coastal walks. We love the Sea Shanty restaurant by the sea.
Black out curtains are needed in back bedroom as security light kept coming on. The plug for the bath isnt working. The shower could do with being updated. Saying that the house is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay.

Very disappointed that the hot tub was not working when we arrived, the reason i booked this property was because of the hot tub, we waited in on Monday afternoon for the engineer the problem was an air lock, but unable to use until Tuesday as it needed to heat up. also when i stripped the bed in front bed room with red curtains the duvet, had several stains on it, again not what i was expecting , I would like to think i am due some recompense, for the hot tub situation, Rgds Nichola Dean

We had a great time at the house. Its so well equipped which it doesnt state on the listing. They had everything from washing up liquid to hand wash and a fully stocked kitchen. Everything you could need. There isnt a travel cot or high chair though but thats fine and we planned for that. The garden is amazing for sitting outside and the hot tub is a bonus, although not a deal breaker for us. The shower in the main bathroom wasnt heating when we arrived but I think the previous guests reported it as someone came to look at it soon after we arrived. Could maybe do with a small bin in the bathroom. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely book again.

We have had a wonderful Christmas holiday. All be it we had heavy rain and strong winds ,thunder, lightning, hail , the lot. Because of this we spent many hours indoors. Nice because its been a long time since we have had all the family together. Plenty to amuse us with games and jigsaws when we werent trying to brave the elements The house plenty big enough for 8 people although I agree with other holiday makers we would have liked another bathroom toilet. Our only bugbear was the fact there was no heating in the lovely main bathroom. Such a large room it meant that in winter time it really was cold. It would have been nice to have a heated towel rail. Lovely house so well equipped, lovely area too . We braved the hot tub when the weather allowed it. All in all a great family Christmas.
Amanda
Enjoyed stay and good location for that part of Anglsey walk. It is a tight turn into property and possibly replace missing mirror across road to help. House was clean and well equipped. Issue with internal door being locked dealt with professionally. Hot tub was good, but when finally got jets working at a higher rate, User error, it all stopped after about 10 minutes. On last day so no issue, but may need some maintenance. Garden is lovely and dog friendly, but would benefit from some chicken wire at bottom of gate as dogs can get underneath if high incentive on other side.
Rachel
The property was amazing in a brilliant location. It was very well equipped and extremely comfortable. We loved the garden and the fact that our dog was safe once the gate was closed. The only negatives for us were that there weren't enough bathroom facilities for 6 adults made worse by the fact that the sink in the bedroom with the shower wasn't connected underneath, so when you turned on the tap water just poured out onto the carpet resulting in an unpleasant smell in that room. We reported this to Sykes on the second morning of our holiday Sunday and were told that someone would come and fix it the day after but by Wednesday we still hadn't heard anything so reported it again, only to be told our request would be looked at within 24 hours. We then received a message on Friday saying they would send someone as soon as they could which was too late as we left on Saturday. It was a significant leak and judging by the smell in that room, it hadn't just happened as the room smelt dank and fusty. This was disappointing as we had put my 75 year old mum in this room as she has mobility issues and it would have been useful for her. Instead we all had to use one bathroom. The bathroom is very large but the shower was tiny and the shower integrated into the bath leaked and was difficult to operate. The only other observation is that the entrance and exit to the property is extremely tight, especially if you have larger vehicles, which we did, and very dangerous as the road is quite busy at times. You can't see over the brow of the hill as you pull out and cars, buses and farm vehicles come at you at speed so we always felt quite vulnerable as we were pulling out. The hot tub was lovely, however it kept tuning off after a certain time and there was still sand in the bottom from previous use. One last observation is that if you love jets then this is a brilliant property to stay in as, from Monday to Friday we constantly had Hawks and Texans flying over us. We were also lucky to be here during a military exercise so saw visiting F15's, Chinooks, F35's and A400's. Overall we had an amazing holiday, the weather was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for sharing your beautiful property with us.
Its a lovely house, nice conservatory off the kitchen that was warm all day, ... Its a lovely house, nice conservatory off the kitchen that was warm all day, so nice to sit and look out into the garden Kitchen was well equipped for 8 people House was plenty big enough for 4 adults and 2 dogs, would be fine for 2 families to share too Shower in main bathroom would be better if it was larger as quite small for such a large bathroom garden is very big our dogs loved running round it all and they never managed to find a gap to get out of it, so we felt safe to let them run round Hot tub needs some work doing on it, the lights didnt work and bubbles only worked for 1 cycle, but it was still nice to relax in it after walking all day The entrance on the drive is very tight, so takes some getting used to getting your car through the gap, front garden is very big, so drive could be widened to make it easy to see as your trying to drive off
Thank you for your email. We actually had to come today as I wasnt very well. We followed all instructions but as we had to leave the dishwasher was still going when we left, apologies. We absolutely loved the house and the area. There were just a few things to point out the dishwasher top tray is broken and is dangerous as one side is not supported. The plug in the bath didnt seem to work so we couldnt have a bath. Thank you
Fab place loved the home and garden Only critism when coming out of drive no road mirror so need to be careful. Clothes not ours in wardrobe Area is lovely local shop for bits expensive so 10.mins further on small asda so stock up there Enjoy its a lovely area
Review for Bryngwyn Trearddur Bay. We stayed as a family from 10th17th September. The house itself is beautiful, with a mature and extensive back garden. Ideal for our two granddaughters and two dogs to play in. The website states the garden is enclosed, which it is apart from the gate, our small dog would have been able to get underneath it so had to be supervised at all times. Pros Beautifully decorated Enough space for the whole family inside and out Comfortable seating the grey sofa is wonderful! Well equipped kitchen Comfortable beds Great location for the beach and all amenities Plenty of offroad parking Good water pressure for showers Great decking area which is beautifully lit up at night Seating area under pergola is lovely to catch the afternoon sun The tree swing went down great with our granddaughters Cons Hot tub was dirty when we arrived and continued to pump out sand once we had complained and someone had come to clean it quickly. Hot tub was also very old and would not stay on for more than 10 minutes, it would then take 20 minutes to come back on with the jets, just felt like we were sat in a bath. No chemical treatment to clean hot tub was carried out during our week. I personally used the hot tub once during my whole stay. TV in bedroom did not work, for the price we have paid I would expect a Sky package or something similar, there was only Freeview available in the lounge and a small selection of DVDs. As mentioned earlier garden gate needs to be more secure for smaller children and dogs, I would suggest a second gate for added security or a solid gate in place of the current one. On our second day, we lost power to the lights on one side of the house which included the kitchen, this then proceeded to bring workmen into the house for two days, ironic really as we had booked this break to get away from the building work at home. Before Menai would send workmen out, they had asked us to stand on a chair to reach the fuse box in the kitchen. I was not willing to do this, my daughter reluctantly did, and the fuse just kept blowing. Once the workmen arrived, carpets were ripped up and the dust was immense. I requested a cleaner and Menai did arrange to send one who was efficient. We are still waiting for Emily from Menai to call us back to arrange a late checkout or some form of compensation for the twoday disruption to our week break. I appreciate that these things can happen, but I feel that Menai customer service was poor. Top shelf on dishwasher was broken, cooker hood did not work. Only one towel provided for each person, so it was a good job we had taken extra for hot tub. More thorough cleaning needed throughout whole property, socks left in drawer from previous guests, dog mess in garden, dust under bed and furniture. Only one wine glass, no pyrex dish, the lid was there so clearly had been broken and not replaced, I guess this is also the story with the wine glasses. Message to the owners Bryngwyn is a beautiful house, but could be managed so much better, I would be reluctant to book with Menai again for reasons stated.
Patricia
Only complaint was that the wooden worktops in the kitchen were sticky need some treatment didn't feel clean also wardrobe needed in bedroom where the shower is. Hot tub should have been cleaned treated during our stay . However the property was well equipped and comfortable.
Cathryn
Beautiful house in a lovely location. Wonderful facilities. We all had a fabulous time!
Bryngwyn is a lovely property on the outskirts of Trearddur Bay. The house was clean and welcoming on our arrival and they had provided all necessary information and help that could be needed. When we had an issue with the dishwasher, Menai Holiday cottages were quick to get back to us and respond helpfully. We were eight in the house including two teenage boys! and therefore, only one bathroom was an issue and whilst all other facilities in the house were great including the hot tub! lack of bathroom space over two weeks did become a bit problematic. All in all, a good stay though in a lovely, cosy house in beautiful Trearddur Bay
Valerie
A lovely house spotless with everything you needed. The location was great woukd definitely book again
Angela
We stayed for a week at the end of June beginning of July 2022. On arrival there was no key but it was resolved within the hour by the lovely housekeeping team. The beds were very clean and comfortable and the quilts and pillows were all so lovely, we slept really well throughout our stay. We only used two of the bedrooms but all the rooms were spacious with lots of wardrobe space and storage. The whole house is decorated lovely and and it felt like a home and not just somewhere to crash for a week. One of the highlights for me was the jacuzzi bath
Lorraine
We loved the house on the whole but did find the property a bit grubby. Just general cleaning issues. Also we were only left 1rubbish bag which for 68 people is not adequate. Also toilet rolls was only left with one. When we came to strip the beds as requested there was one of the double bed mattress protectors which was so badly stained. Not acceptable and had we have looked before sleeping there we would have had to request a new one. These are easily rectified issues but none the less a bit off putting
We had difficulty getting the dishwasher to work, it seems there's a knack to it, but it took Sykes 4 days to get back to us with this info, so a note in the info book or a sticker on the front explaining the technique could be useful. The TV in the second room didn't have an aerial so no channels were available, and the set top box doesn't have wifi so no way to watch anything on that TV apart from DVDs. No radiator in the back bedroom so it can get a little chilly on cooler evenings. We did have to turn the heating up on a couple evenings but was easy enough to do. The kitchen cutlery and utensils could do with a good clean, we found old food on the potato masher and all the kitchen worktops felt sticky. Basically needs a deep clean. No issues with the hot tub that was fantastic. Garden is huge and was big enough for our dog to have a good run around. Despite these minor niggles it's a lovely house decorated and fitted out to a high standard.
Rachel
This house is breathtaking! ! Everything you need and more ..
Had a fabulous stay at bryngwyn it had everything we could need and was in the perfect spot. There was eight of us and there was plenty of space for everyone. We will definitely be booking again .
Lesley
A great house for families, plenty of living space so people could have there own space of needed. The house had all the modern appliances. Very comfortable. We had a 1 year old and a 3 year old so the garden was an extension of the house.p!entry of grass and safe with adult supervision also a gate to the side of the house for added safety.Your could walk to the beach. Car needed for exploring the area and trips to the larger shops.
We had an amazing stay apart from Storm Eunice on the last day but that couldn't of been helped, luckily board games, cards and lots of DVD's were available to use at the property. The house was lovely and had everything we needed, it was a short walk to the beach and places to eat. Sea Shanty was our fave! We will be definitely staying again at this property! 100!
Michelle
Great stay. Spacious property and gardens as described great for a large group & there is enough room for everyone. Lovely modern finish and A log burner & open fire made the house really cosy & central heating was good. Things to note . No central heating in one bedroom so an electric heater should be provided for cooler weather like we had . We found the cleaning standard great so I assume other reviews have been acted on but be aware that there is nothing in the house and no welcome pack provided. Salt pepper & oil were the only things in the cupboard. The mirror opposite for pulling out on the road has gone so should be replaced. We had awful weather in the main so didnt use the hot tub as it is not covered. The house itself has plenty space for 8 but the dining tables seat 4 or 8 which is very odd so more than 6 was always a squeeze. Sea Shanty cafe in Trearddur Bay is lovely its a restaurant with fabulous Menai mussels so dont let the title put you off. Overall we had a lovely holiday & the house served our needs very well.
We stayed for a week at the house with six adults and two dogs! A lovely house with all you could need! Very clean, comfortable beds, and a great hot tub! The only complaint is there are only three comfortable garden chairs! We had fantastic weather and would have been nice to sit out after a day walking!! Bearing in mind the house sleeps eight!! Wish we'd taken some chairs with us it would have made all the difference,. Also don't go through the caravan park to the beach as the book tells you as it takes ages just walk down the main road. All in all a very good holiday!!
Internet connection absolutely excellent 55 stars. Usually tricky in Anglesey but not here. Brilliant!! Showers electric old fashioned. Jacuzzi bath chucked out gunk each time used. Owners MUST descale clean properly. Cleaning poor standard and NONE offered mid stay only a linens change after one week. Please offer this. Bin collection Tuesdays. Why not state on the manual? Hot tub very old. Only bubbles for 10 mins not 20 as it is meant to be. Takes ages for bubbles cycle to be go on again but at 39 degrees this was a wonderful, relaxing experience. Mid stay chemical rebalance by Matthew was reassuring. Huge, amazing garden. Could do with a trampoline and one more swing please. Hosepipe useful. State there is one please in details as handy to rinse wetsuits & costumes from sand. Also handy Belfast sink outside useful to know and not stated. Very narrow turn into drive. Really does take practise with a 4x4 to turn in! Scary turning back out of drive onto main 30mph road but there is a mirror. Outside lights are very good and light up drive but one must disturb the neighbour badly. It is meant to flick on as a spotlight with motion I think but constantly flicks on off so didnt like to use. Shame. Awful at that price to just have TERRESTRIAL TV. Where on earth were the packages SkyBTAmazon?! Anything other than channels 15 please! Very noisy neighbour drilling and sawing decking til 9.30pm. 10 days. Playing music. So unthoughtful. Ruined quiet enjoyment of garden once he started at 3pm sometimes til 99.30pm. Unbelievable. Sykes cleaners need training. Just not thorough. Found odd socks under beds. Also purple display cushions on rear main double bed stank. Needed a good wash. That room smelt of man. Unpleasant so aired every day. MOTHS PROBLEM in the house. Outrageous for this price. Get a moth spray and get rid of them please. Red front bedroom worst. They were nesting under that old fashioned wooden wardrobe not pine but varnished wood one. Furniture needs to be moved and HOOVERING more thorough. Hoover provided was rubbish. No care to keep it emptied.
We loved this house, it's so spacious, lots of rooms to chill out in, for a bigger family or two small families it's ideal, every room is really large. The garden was amazing, lots of family cricket played and our dog had the best time with so much freedom. Kitchen is really well equipped for cooking for a larger group. Location wise its fabulous, just a short walk to the beach and in easy reach of loads of other great places to visit. The only thing that could improve it is some better outside seating on the deck. Overall a fabulous holiday, we hope to be back.
Gillian
Wonderful secure garden and 10 minutes walk to the beach where there are shops cafes and toilets perfect! The property had more than adequate cooking utensils and we appreciated the small supply of detergents for pot washing. The hot tub was an added luxury. The large bathroom had quality fittings including a jacuzzi . There is also a large parking area.
We stayed at Bryngwn for a week at the beginning of June. The accommodation was faultless, we had a wonderful time. We believe that the property undersells itself with regards to the hot tub and gardens, they were wonderful. The only slight issue was understanding how to recycle waste. A fantastic holiday that we would certainly do again
When we arrived at the cottage we found knickers in one of the rooms and that the carpets were not hoovered fully. The hot tub was not working for the full week we were there. Sykes were very unhelpful, we had to chase them constantly and kept getting fobbed off with promises of them calling back in 10 minutes. We were told that the hot tub would be fixed on Tuesday, but no one arrived and no one from Sykes bothered to call us to update us. We were then told the hot tub would be fixed on Friday we were leaving on Saturday morning and thus would not be able to use the hot tub but no one arrived Friday either. The owners did not seem to care as Sykes have insisted they have seen the lengthy email I sent but their feedback does not reflect any apologies or empathy. Never again will I use Sykes Cottages. Avoid this company at all costs.
